‘Spring has Sprung at Coventry Animal Centre’

Spring has most definitely sprung at the RSPCA Coventry Animal Centre with over 40 animals being born at the centre in the last two weeks.

The centre which takes in and cares for over 1000 unwanted animals a year has been pushed to capacity with so many new arrivals. Over the last few weeks several species have given birth including Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Degus and Guinea pigs

Jennifer Hamlet Kennel Supervisor says ‘Although it is always exciting and lovely to have lots of baby animals around it is worrying that people are still breeding animals irresponsibly. Along with many other animal charities we promote neutering to try and reduce the number of unwanted litters which only add to the problems many rescue centres face.

All the babies born so far are still too young to be rehomed or viewed and thanks to our army of fosterers most of them are being nurtured in loving homes until they are ready for rehoming.

The centre urgently needs more people to come and adopt some of the 100 plus animals in our care ready to make room for the new arrivals over the next few weeks.

At the other end of the spectrum there are currently some very special cats at the centre now coming into their twilight years that have been overlooked for weeks. We would love to see anyone who might be able to offer some of our Golden Oldies a home.

The centre is open as normal over the Easter Weekend and would love to see as many visitors as possible interested in adopting an animal or making a donation towards the care of all the new arrivals.

Visitors can come along to the centre Coundon Wedge Drive, Coventry between our opening hours of 11am to 4pm Tues to Monday or call 024 76 336616. All the animals available for rehoming will be on our website www.rspca-coventry.org.uk
