03/02/2010 ‘Coventry Animal Centre Pleas for Help with Veterinary Fees’

Many people across the country have been waiting in dread for the Christmas bills to arrive on their door mats at the end of January. The RSPCA Coventry Animal Centre is no different after numerous animals needed life saving treatment during December and especially over the Christmas period, meaning expensive out of hours veterinary fees need to be paid.


The Centre had 38 puppies to care for in December with a lot of them needing treatment. Porridge and Oats were two of them who came into the Centre with severe Demodetic Mange and would have been put to sleep if the Coventry Animal Centre had not taken them in. Both pups had severe hair loss and infected skin around their head and chest. Oats went on to need a further two large operations for other problems he was experiencing.


Louise Labram Centre Supervisor said ‘Porridge and Oats are now looking wonderful and are in really great health. Both puppies will be looking for a new home shortly but this would not have been possible without spending the money on getting them fit and well’


In all the Centre spent over £12,000 in veterinary fees in December and January and desperately needs some help towards the cost which could have an impact on the number of animals we can take in over the next few months.


Glenn Mayoll Centre Manger said ‘Without hesitation the branch helped these animals to ensure they had a bright and happy future. However this has had a huge affect on the Centre’s finances.’


‘If you feel you are able to donate an amount towards our veterinary fees, however small, we would be very grateful.


Over 100 Dogs, Cats and Small Animals found new homes through the Centre in January 2010 and this is only possible with the continued support of the public.
