15/09/2009 The centre is proud to announce the re-opening of its brand new kennels after phase one of the centre's rebuild comes to an end. Ten months after the last of the dogs were moved to other centres across the country the centre plays host to its first doggy friends in 2009. Phase one of the rebuild cost over £600,000 and took 10 months to complete. Funds were raised over three years from the public of Coventry and surrounding areas and with grants from the RSPCA National Society. The new kennels already house thirty dogs all looking for new homes, twenty of which have been transferred from other centres. The dogs have arrived from across the country after struggling to find homes. One of which is Jack a beautiful German Shepherd cross. He had been at the Derby animal centre since April this year and is desperate to find a new family. The first dog to be adopted from the kennels is Mitzy a Mastiff cross. She was heading home to the Earp family in Nuneaton earlier this week and staff at the centre are hoping she can make it back on Friday for a photo or two. The new kennels were kindly opened on Friday 11th September by Steven Carter Wales & West Regional Manager fromo the National Society. |
