Young Tabby Cat Callously Cast Aside
23/07/2009
Staff at Animal Centre are currently caring for a young tabby cat which was callously cast aside last night outside the centre.

The female cat, thought to be around one year old, was found last night
(19th) at 11.30pm. She was abandoned in a large blue cat carrier.

"It was pouring with rain last night when I found this young cat and she was frightened," said Glenn Mayoll, manager at Coventry Animal Centre. "It is not acceptable for anyone to dump their pet when no longer wanted but I am thankful that at least she was secure in the cat carrier in which she was dumped. If she had been left in a cardboard box, as has previously happened, the heavy rain would have meant she could have easily escaped and got killed on the road."

"The RSPCA and other animal welfare organisations are here to help pet owners who are having problems caring for their pets. Abandoning an animal is never an option. It is a criminal offence and by leaving any animal unattended you are putting its life in very real danger,"
continued Glenn.

Anyone with information about the cat, which has been named Blue, are urged to call the RSPCA national cruelty and advice line on 0300 1234 999.
