Nailbiting Start
14/02/2009
Phase 1 of the Animal Centre rebuild began in earnest this week with a nail biting start when the 3.5 tonne reception was gently craned across the car park to its new temporary home. There had been great concern that the Portacabin would not make the move due to its age and would fall apart, with much skill on the part of the building team the building made it on once piece.

The need to ensure our old ‘matriarchal’ reception stayed in once piece was huge as a new temporary reception would have cost between £5-10k. A new brick built reception is planned for phase two of the rebuild in the mean time we need to hold on to the one we have.

Glenn Mayoll Centre Manager said ‘It’s amazing to finally see the building work begin at the centre, with such a nail biting start it really gets everyone excited and looking to future. We are all missing having dogs here and we really cannot wait to be back to full to capacity’.

The kennels should be finished by August 2009 and the centre can get back to normal amidst plans for phase two of the build.
