24/10/2008 Lucky Cleo who was rescued from a garage fire earlier this month is making an astonishing recovery after lots of tender loving care from both the staff at the centre and our Veterinary Practice in Cheylesmore. Cleo had suffered severe burns to her face, ears and paws when she had become caught in the Garage fire. After being rescued by local police officers she was taken to our vets by one of the RSPCA Inspectors. On arrival she was given an initial assessment and the vets began the task of treating her severe injuries. After spending a few days with them, receiving the care she needed Cleo began to show signs of becoming depressed as she was desperate for more human contact. Glenn Mayoll the manager of the animal centre agreed to take Cleo home in order to give her round the clock care and stimulation she so needed. Cleo had to have the four dressings on her feet changed daily and creams applied to all exterior burns as part of her daily routine. Glenn Mayoll Centre Manager said ‘Throughout all the treatment Cleo has remained calm and content even though it must have been uncomfortable for her. Although Cleo has long way to go she is now thriving and we are hoping her feet will heel as quickly as the injuries to her face and ears’. Glenn continues ‘She might still look a little shabby but she is one hundred per cent improved on when she was found’ The centre staff are staggered that an owner has not come forward for Cleo after she was featured in the local press not long after the fire. Cleo appears to be a cat of oriental type although it is difficult to be sure due to her burns, She has obviously had an owner as she is very good condition other than her recent trauma she adores people and lots of attention. It will be some weeks before Cleo will be available for rehoming and we urge anyone interested in rehoming her to be patient and contact the centre in a few weeks. |
