30/01/2008 NatWest Area Manager, Mr Barry Howarth and his little terrier Dicken put their best foot forward to raise funds for our Re-build Appeal knowing that monies raised from their efforts would be matched by Barry's employer, NatWest Bank. Barry and Sarah Howarth and Dicken took part in our Annual Mutt Strutt Plus (sponsored dog walk with a difference) event at Coombe Country Park in October to raise funds and are regular supporters of the work that we do. Their efforts generated a fabulous £250, which was matched by NatWest, making a grand total of £500 towards the Appeal. Dicken and Barry came along to the Centre just before Christmas to present their cheque to Animal Centre Manager, Nikki Smith. Appeal's Manager, Kay Brandist came along to the presentation to thank Barry and Dicken for their efforts. "It's been quite a challenge to raise sufficient funds to begin the re-build programme at the Centre and we are grateful to Barry and to NatWest for such a generous gesture of support. It really was a fabulous Christmas present that we hope will be put to good use in the very near future. We hope to achieve planning permission for the Re-build in time to invite tenders for the project by May 2008 and look forward to accepting a full, complement of dogs again by the end of the year" |
